- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg (room temperature)
- 1 cup whole milk (warmed to 100-110°F)
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 2 tablespoons finely minced garlic
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (finely chopped)
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- 3 cups mozzarella cheese (shredded)
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese (shredded)
- 1 large egg (for egg wash)
- 1 teaspoon water
Instructions
- Activate the yeast by mixing warmed milk, sugar, and yeast in a stand mixer; let it sit until foamy (about 8-10 minutes).
- Add egg, flour, and salt to the activated yeast mixture; mix using a dough hook until combined.
- Gradually incorporate softened butter and knead on medium speed for 5-6 minutes until smooth.
- Transfer dough to a greased bowl; cover and let rise until doubled (60-90 minutes).
- Prepare garlic butter by mixing softened butter with minced garlic and parsley; set aside.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread garlic butter over it, then top with shredded cheeses.
- Roll into a log shape, cut into eight pieces, place in a greased baking pan, cover to rise again (25-35 minutes).
- Preheat oven to 350°F; brush risen rolls with egg wash before baking for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
