  • 170g Gruyère cheese, grated

Instructions

  2. Add the sliced onions and cook for 30–40 minutes, stirring frequently until caramelized.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic for about 2 minutes, then add the sugar to help with browning.
  4. Deglaze the pot with apple vinegar, scraping up browned bits. Pour in beef stock along with bay leaves, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer uncovered for 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat the broiler; toast baguette slices until golden brown. Top with Gruyère cheese and broil until bubbly.
