  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 32 oz frozen tater tots
  • Optional toppings: turkey pepperoni, olives, bell peppers, green onions, mushrooms

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until browned (about 5-7 minutes), breaking up the meat as it cooks. Drain excess grease.
  3. Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper; simmer for a few minutes.
  4. Spread the beef mixture in the baking dish. Top with 1 cup of mozzarella cheese and arrange tater tots in a single layer on top.
  5. Add another cup of mozzarella cheese over the tater tots.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes until tater tots are golden brown and cheese is bubbly. Optional: add toppings during the last 5 minutes of baking.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving.
