The buttery garlic topping enhances each bite, making these knots ideal as an appetizer, side dish, or snack. Easy to prepare with no yeast required, they’re a quick solution for satisfying your cravings while adding a homemade touch to your dining experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons warm water
  • ½ cup sourdough starter discard
  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • Garlic powder

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, warm water, sourdough discard, melted butter, sugar, salt, and garlic powder. Mix until cohesive.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10–15 minutes until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook.
  3. Place the kneaded dough back in the bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let rise in a warm area for about 4 hours or until doubled in size.
  4. Shape the dough into an 8-inch rope and tie into knots. Arrange on a parchment-lined baking sheet and let proof for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat oven to 400°F. Brush knots with melted garlic butter mixture before baking for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Allow cooling slightly before serving warm.
